Windows Media Files
Is there any way to allow for *.3gp giles to be used in conjuction with the Insert Windows Media option?

Also, when I insert media using this function (*.wmv), then I get an X instead of the video. Is there a setting I need to modify?

Thanks!

According to Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0071.mspx 3gp file type is not supported by the Windows Player but you can download DirectShow filters from the Internet to play them in the player.

Thanks for that.

What about the settings question. Is there something I am missing as I am getting an X after uploading a wmv file?

Re: Windows Media Files
It seems that you are getting an X since 3gp files are not supported by the player. Have you tried installing DirectShow filters mentioned in the article? There is no settings you can change for the Windows Media files, but if you want you can change the code in UltimateEditor.upload.aspx file in UltimateEditorInclude directory under the root of your web app.

For Windows Media files, UltimateEditor expects the mime type to be starting with video or audio. It looks like UltimateEditor inserts the 3gp file but it cannot be shown inside the editor. Have you checked the HTML code inserted after inserting the media file by swicthing to the HTML tab? Do you see any OBJECT element inserted in the HTML?

Re: Windows Media Files
Thanks for the reply.

The 3GP files I am not worried about so much. The editor did not even allow for those to be uploaded, so it didn't even get to the part of the X.

The WMV files however (I've tried four) all result in an X.... and yes and OBJECT element is inserted:

<OBJECT id="" codeBase=http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,0,02,0902 height=200 width=200 classid=CLSID:u22d6f312_b0f6_11d0_94ab_0080c74c7e95><PARAM NAME="Filename" VALUE="http://www.website.com/UltimateEditorInclude/Upload/fafe3229-d7eb-44b1-a273-f47b3f740723/movie.wmv"><PARAM NAME="AutoRewind" VALUE="true">
<embed src="http://www.website.com/UltimateEditorInclude/Upload/fafe3229-d7eb-44b1-a273-f47b3f740723/movie.wmv" width="200" height="200" name="" align="" autorewind="true" type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Downloads/Contents/MediaPlayer/"></embed></OBJECT>

Re: Windows Media Files
Windows media or Flash files cannot be played when you are in the Design tab inside the editor. However, if you put the content of the HTML tab of the editor to a web page, they will be rendered and played. You can also click on the Print Preview button on the editor toolbar to see the media file playing.

The reason they cannot be played in the Design tab is that UltimateEditor generates an iframe element and set its designMode to on to render the editable text area and Windows media or Flash files cannot be played inside the iframes with designMode set to on. Sorry for any inconvenience.
